My friends and I get together for “dog play nights” where up to 5 dogs come over to play with my two. My oldest, a 55-lb cattle dog mix, is clearly the “alpha” of the playgroup, with final say over who can be where, and play with what toys. The smallest is a rat-terrier mix, and he’ll just stand next to her when she’s asserting herself, echoing her bark with his own (“yeah! what she said!”) at the much bigger dogs. We call him her “minion.”

That’s just like a Pomeranian. Classic “little man” syndrome. And that Dane’s not all that “great”, either.

Maybe the cats will notice and do something about it. Exactly what, well, hard to say.
