Peer pressure. All the other cool kids were doing it, so we felt we had to, too. But, don’t worry, we can stop whenever we want. It’s not like we’re addicted to mutating, or anything.

being freshly mutated leaves one’s head all cloudy? (I was originally going to say “fuzzy”, but that’s generally a permanent effect of the mutation) Maybe that’s why Linda thought that the topsiders would let her talk to her son right after she mutated.

As an alternate explanation to the brainwashed spy theory, I would say it’s likely only half true. Seems like the logical defensive reaction by the topsiders to the Flask situation would be to trigger the subconscious into forgetting about life as a topsider should mutation occur. There would be no need for a spy to forget the perfect cover story (mutating to cure a terminal disease) if that’s what this indeed was. This is more likely the result any current topsider would experience if they should mutate. To prevent future turncoats from spilling any of their vulnerabilities.

I think that mutants aren’t capable of remembering the healing factor. It is the only way to explain how it has gone unnoticed. Besides didn’t they make it clear they wanted the healing factor earlier? If so then even Wally seems to have forgotten about it.

Looks like mutation clouds readers’ minds, too…This is why Wally and Holly had no idea what Jim and Sarah were talking about when they pointed out anthros’ advanced healing. It’s the same as transporters thinking people are crazy when they’re told they’re really brains in a cupboard. The transformation blocks mutants’ conception of advanced healing and maybe other attributes of their lives. As if it were designed to. Maybe the mutagen was someone’s attempt to create cartoon characters in real life who accept their simulated cartoon physics as normal and unquestionable. The question now is whether Wally’s question means he’s forgotten about the healing factor, or is he still teasing them about it? Does Holly still remember or is she forgetting, too?

It’s possible this is why some of the characters in Endtown act more like Toontown… the effect of mutation leads to some personality/memory shifts.

Linda didn’t have any trouble remembering…Flask didn’t have any trouble remembering…Wally didn’t have any trouble remembering…Gustine didn’t have any trouble remembering…in fact, a lot of their trouble comes from not having any trouble remembering. So what gives?

With apologies for touching reality. We must remember that every cell in their body has changed including brain cells. It is surprising that they remember anything at all.

I don’t quite recall Koalski having this much disorientation when she woke up, so this is certainly an interesting change.

Then again, these two seemed to me more like teenagers than full grown adults, so, perhaps that has something to do with things?

I’d be guessing that one of them, maybe both had some kind of terminal illness. That would be one reason why Jim and Sarah both mentioned the mutant healing factor so often. Also, that would explain Jim’s “how do you feel” question. He may be in a daze but he still remembers enough to be concerned about Sarah’s health. With regards to the haziness, that may be a part of mutation, as The Life I Draw Upon noted, it is likely that the brain cells are changing.

I’m afraid that Aaron may have forgotten something as well. The strip noted above isn’t Flask’s first appearance. The actual first is September 16, 2010 when she is talking with Mike Crawford.http://endtown.sherri-alexander.com/2010/09/16/endtown-09-16-2010-2/The strip for sale is from September 23, 2010.http://endtown.sherri-alexander.com/2010/09/23/endtown-09-23-2010-2/This is still the first strip showing Flask and Xavier together, that should certainly count for something. I hope my being a $%#&** engineer hasn’t ruffled too many feathers.

Sarah looks like she walked right out of the 1920s…assuming the 1920s had mutated anthropomorphic human/animals walking around, of course…

Here’s a thought: if Topsiders wear those suits 24/7…then how did Sarah keep herself looking so prim and proper under it for so long? I mean, how could she have possibly applied that lipstick? Or keep her hair looking so pristine? And who’d care, seeing that it’d always be hidden under those suits?

I realize this is highly superficial… but in the suit, how did Sarah do the eye makeup and lipstick? Is there an isolation chamber where they can tend to personal comforts and vanities like haircuts, manicures and such?I know, I know… Shut up, it’s just a cartoon!

What’s the situation? You have these two Topsiders found by Wally and Holly among the remains of a recently-destroyed Anthro settlement…they are intensely interested in the idea of transforming…two other Topsiders appear and the first two murder them…they then grab Wally and Holly and hop into a suspiciously-self-identifying Transporter who calls himself Clive…what’s left of the settlement is destroyed by a Topsider airstrike…the Topsiders undergo transformation…and when they do transform they appear to forget why they wanted to transform.#Deeply suspicious situation.

Topsiders associate imperfections with mutation. Remember the guy with the birthmark waaaay back at the begining? I wouldn’t be surprised to find that, instead of treatment, a diagnosis of cancer would get you banished. You know, unarmed and incommunicado perhaps? ;-)

Well, it’s certainly true that one’s state of mind influences the mutation. The most glaring example of it being the monstrosities created when they’re conscious!

Here is an open thought……what about “TAILS”!!?Raccoons have nice tails. They can poof like Wally’s and are usually poofed all the time.I sure hope there is a discount store nearby to pick up some new duds.I heard Albion West is a duty free transit station.Prices are rock bottom, no haggling, no salesperson, just easy convenient shopping in open air comfort. Anthros in a floppy Topsider suit is……just so…..un…..mutant.Now when Jim and Sarah see each other sans clothing…….ummmmmmmm
