First words my husband said to our Daughter when he got home from work “Did you clean up your room?” Every day….30 years later and she is obsessivly clean. Mops floors every day, cleans bathrooms 3 times a week. etc!
I hear you; it bothers me that a lot of this stuff is labeled “good habits” with no thought of the energy or insanity behind it and turns one into a human doing instead of human being……Re today’s strip: Here’s a revelation: Junior could be honestly expressing his feelings. What a concept. (FWIW, if he isn’t just doing that, Betty and Bud may have created a monster. As you can see, I don’t much care for mindgames, too many decades of them in my past. No one ought to be playing with that kind of stuff; see a 4-page short story titled “The Weapon” by Frederick Brown, it applies to intellectual warfare also.) Also, I wonder if anyone ever considers that the guilt exists in the psyche of the recipient only; no one can sling guilt onto another unless they are trained to receive it. As I was. And it doesn’t retrain easily.(BTW, The Weapon, a super quick read at 4 pages, can be found here: http://sussexhigh.nbed.nb.ca/jjohnston/summer_school-07/The_Weapon_text.pdf)

At least your mom doesn’t joke that she “knows she did something right since both us girls are in therapy”.
