Even I haven’t gotten my stepmother something (mother passed away ten years ago). Like Michael Patterson here, gotta hurry.

Michael is between a rock and a hard place…danged if he does, danged if he doesn’t… Being put on a guilt trip doesn’t help, John! ;)

Children are naturally selfish and need to be taught to think of others. Michael wants to be treated as if he wasn’t a child but then needs to learn that there are responsibilities with that. John is right to encourage him to think of Elly. If not, you end up with selfish adults who make no effort to celebrate others special days.

Michael has to be taught to think of his mother first. Otherwise he will naturally think of himself first and take his Mom for granted all of his life.

Parenting can be tough. John’s choice is easy in this example but sometimes it is hard to cause a child’s unhappiness.

moms don’t require a gift, just do something nice for her and it will make her day. Go clean your room, take out the trash, do the dishes after dinner, or just play nice with your sister and let mom have a nice quiet day.

We are moving our Mother’s Day up a weekend due to prices going up at eating place as I do not want to cook. Mother’s Day too expensive for us to eat out hubby may BBQ. My sister/hubby cannot afford to eat out and said cake and ice cream. Be with mom who is now 89 and still going strong. She loves to walk with no walker or crutches. She is very healthy. I do not want or expect Mother’s Day gift. I hope daughter home makes card with our two dogs now that is precious for Mother’s Day card.

Or he could do something that is actually meaningful instead of buying some random trinket. Ditto for John…

Since my mother lives in another state, I’m going to be sure to get her the nicest card I can find, write a letter to enclose with it (she can’t get enough of them), and then call her on Mother’s Day to make sure she got it. It’s worth it for the woman who spent 23 hours in labor with me just to get me into this world!
