I have been on night shift for 10 years plus. Love it. Drive against traffic – no parking space issues and no management in your face. Downside is you have make the tough calls and can get the axe for screwing up.
This reminds me of the time when I was in pilot training. I was having difficulty learning how to land the airplane (a somewhat essential task). So it was with great dread that my instructor and I went up for our first night flight. Something clicked, and I was able to land just fine.
My instructor told me, “Yup, that’s what I thought, lieutenant; you’ve been flying in the dark all along.”

Some people can do it, others….it just doesn’t work out very well.

I love night work but if I had to work 8 hours straight I would probably choose noon to 8 or so.
