    True story from when I worked at a major Internet Provider years ago:

    Customer: What’s wrong with this @#&#! password box!? I keep trying to type in different passwords, and these star-things keep showing up!

    Me: Sir, that’s a security feature to prevent people from looking over your shoulder and reading your password.

    Customer: Oh.
