Just a guess here (combining some ideas from previous posters). They finally get the car out of the water, Sprocket’s gone (aqualung, etc., since she seems to have more knowledge about the car than her brother), Silver’s torn apart, and Lena’s smiling!

Hmm, I’m thinking by the time the recovery team shows that there won’t be anything to recover. Me thinks old Richard is jumping to a conclusion

I want Sprocket and Lena to survive!

Maybe Diet Smith has a submarine handy for DT to borrow.

He’s ALWAYS been sloppy. He’s lost more suspects in chases than he actually caught. The rest he’s shot between the eyes. Only a tiny percentage have ever stood trial.

With the number of supposedly dead criminals he’s chased that surprisingly come back, his guess is not very good here. I wonder what will happen when the divers come, though. This story is still keeping me in suspense, even at this stage. Somehow, I’m not suspecting any nasty business with Lena, but you never know. Even at this point, anything could happen.

Even if they have air, the water is ice cold and I doubt that the car’s heater still works.

Either the Nitrates are “sleeping with the fishes” or Tracy and company are in for a BIG surprise!

Just my thinking, but if they planned on killing the Nitrates off, they would have ended the story with yesterday’s panel….much more poignant. Still, they also don’t seem as charasmatic

Charismatic enough to keep around either, so who knows?

I think we need an Abner Kadaver spinoff where he gets away with all his crimes (I mean, not killing Tracy, but…)

We could call it BIG, as opposed to L’il, Abner…

Is Sprocket’s revenge complete? Even if the Wonder Car could proceed submerged in frigid water, the access roads are blocked by now. tracy turning his back on definitive verification to the nitrate’s demise huh? hmm.. wait til patton finds out about tracy letting blackjack slip away.. someone needs to call IAB! lol

and while i’m at it.. this just struck me… blackjack’s whole “story” doesnt really make sense… he is a HUGE tracy fan who wanted nothing more than to be persued by tracy, have a gunfight where he would put a hole in tracy’s hat, and then escape prison to strt all over again. if THAT was the case, then why go on the bank robbery spree all across the country and get hunted by the FBI in the first place? why not just simply start a rash of bank robberies in tracyville and cut out th emiddle man altogether?

Never assume, Dick…you know the drill as to why.

WOW, where can I get a ”FREAKY” police car like that! Parking must be as easy as, “One, Two, NEVER ASSUME!!!” LOL!!!

I’m just enjoying the story, and wondering what’ll happen next.

If there’s one thing I learned from years of watching Rocky & Bullwinkle, it’s this: “Never underestimate the power of a schnook.”

Yesterday Sprocket looked pretty resigned to staying (and dying) in the car. Even if one or both of them managed to get out, they would go into shock pretty quickly in the freezing water, and finding their way to the top and through a hole in the ice in the dark would seem pretty unlikely. Yeah, it’s possible Sprocket has some ultra-secret submarine gizmo that she’ll use to get out, maybe rescue Lena, and leave her brother behind. But barring something extraordinary and unforeseen, Tracy is merely giving voice to what seems obvious — the Nitrates aren’t going to survive. Plus, he’s only stating his opinion (“I’d say no”), not making an official call of death. I’m sure the divers and rescue team will do all they can to save them — that’s why Tracy immediately sent for them. So the criticism that he’s being unprofessional and sloppy and all that seems pretty ridiculous.

P.S. Rocky and Bullwinkle rule!

If the car is airtight, why doesn’t it float?

@cheapskate, nothing to recover? Meaning that Silver, Sprocket, Lean, and the entire car won’t be there when they decide to recover it. I’m going for another enhancement to the car

This is not the right forum to joke about one’s religious views or religion in general. Let’s try to keep it about things related to the strip. As my daddy used to say; Shukriyah!

The other day I read about a Colorado man who survived for almost two hours in his underwater car with a relatively small bubble of air. The guy is now suing his rescuers for not pulling him out quickly enough, allegedly because they didn’t think he was alive. Whether that’s true, I don’t know, but just to say if the interior of Flattop Jr’s car is airtight, Silver and his sis could survive in there for quite awhile. Assuming they don’t kill each other in the meantime. Of course, it could have a device to create air from the water and function like a sub….but unless it can fly, too they’re sitting ducks now. Then again, a duck (or at least an insulated deep diving sea bird) would be in pretty good shape here, wouldn’t they, lol?

This does “feel” like the end of the story.Maybe Team Tracy will leave some ambiguity about the fate of the Nitrates in case they want to bring them back someday. But the obvious assumption here is that the couple is el finito. Especially since Sprocket wants her brother dead.I have enjoyed their story, but personally I don’t think there’s any good reason to bring back the Nitrates. Just my opinion.

There has been talk on this comment section the last couple of days about Abner Kadaver. It’s clear to me that he’s not dead… yet. The chief said, “[The Feds have] lost a chance to turn him in on several murders.” There would be no talk of turning him in if he were already dead. You can’t arrest a dead person. The only conclusion can be that he somehow got away again. I’m sure Tracy will get him eventually — hopefully next time.

I’m wonding about a nastier demise for the couple, in that, even if they have “air”, even extra O2, unless they also have CO2 scrubbers, they only have a few hours in the car before they succumb to CO2 poisoning. People tend to forget that detail.

You’re wrong, Tracy. I say Sprocket was not, and is not, the suicidal type. Silver, on the other hand, may be done for, left to be Lena’s Last Meal….
