Managers like Rita do not quit. In the end of their career they get “promoted” to a position that needs their special touch in a remote location. (from which there will be no return) A small town where if your company section goes bust, there are no other jobs for you and no one willing to buy your house. We used to call it getting promoted to a “Broom Closet” position. No real authority, no one to really manage and no real job description. People stay there till they find another job on their own and lose their golden parachute. So the company does not pay out or write negatives.
@Thomas Scott Roberts: In response to your question of yesterday, Mr. Peabody’s adventures in those classic cartoons all involved him and his boy Sherman going back in time (using the Way Back Machine) and helping historical characters accomplish whatever achievement that had made them famous in the first place. Hence, the facetious comment I made yesterday about Rita branching out into time travel.
The only problem of using the wayback machine to send her back in time is it’s not really a time machine. It doesn’t change the past. It’s more of a ‘should have been’ machine (Mr Peabody even explains it that way somewhere early on)
Have you ever seen the EDWIN DROOD musical? The actors have to rehearse multiple endings, and each night the audience votes. Who killed Drood- or is Drood even dead? And they have to be ready to act any one of those endings at a moment’s notice!

Well, Mr. Peabpdy and Snoopy ARE both White!
(I’m always surprised when Rita remembers the name of the Office Staff, they’re all just disposable “Cogs in the Machine” to her, anyway)

Mr Peabody didn’t earn all his degrees and awards/prizes by rolling over.
