The American nation: a history of the United States sense 1865, vol 2? It's research for a part... I was recently hired as an actor to play a rather significant role... A patriotic figure... An historic American icon... And I intend to do my homework and bring some depth to the role... No, no. I'm not paying you to gaze upon the passing traffic with gravitas and profound resolve... I want you to waive the sign and do a little dance! Tax help

What are gravitas?

We have a tax prep company around my area (and probably the whole US), that puts people out in front of their offices, dressed in Statue of Liberty costumes. They start this as early as February, and I always feel sorry for them standing out there freezing and looking silly.

Hey, Monty! That was my college textbook in American History! By John D. Hicks; volume 1 is The Federal Union.Monty doesn’t seem tall and lanky enough for Uncle Sam; maybe the Tax Prep guy has him in lifts?

My daughter was a “waver” for 3 years. She made more money for the amount of time worked than I do. She not only got a substantial raise every year but, as their top waver, they put her in charge of hiring the other wavers her third year. Not bad for a kid that had just graduated from high school. When she was out waving in the snow people would drive across the street to McDonald’s and buy her hot chocolate. Some people even gave her tips because they said she always brightened their day with her smiles and waves. She also got job offers from other business owners because they said they knew that she would be a good employee. If it had been full time instead of seasonal, she would probably still be out waving.
