When the lightning strikes the kite, will there be a ring of fire?

Now, if it were a dual-string stunt kite . . . maybe a Hawaiian Team full-size with 150# test kevlar line . . .
Once upon a time, my wife and I bought our first full-sized kite, having gained experience on half-sized stunters. The first time we used it, on Long Beach Island, my wife was set and had her feet dug into the sand, and I released the kite and watched it rocket upward. I heard excited screaming from upwind, but saw no action on the kite . . . so I looked down and realized what my wife was screaming was “Help!”. Her feet were still dug into the sand; except the place where she USED to be dug into the sand was about 15 feet further upwind, and there were NO footsteps between there and her current location. It was sheer luck that she had landed upright. We learned to treat the wind with a little more respect. :-)
