Miss Plainwell: I see Lina figured out she could buy her own gold stars and stick them on her homework. I don't know whether to give her points for confidence or dock her for scamming. Frazz: Which is interesting, since someone tries that every year. Miss Plainwell: Okay, I'm docking myself for the flat learning curve.

Interesting. A ‘Flat Learning Curve’ implies that you never get to the goal (something that is impossible to learn).

wall street does that all the time. they pay rating agencies that their newest investment is rated AAA. and, then they sell it as AAA, but in reality it is junk.

Man, you guys are a tough crowd.
I liked this one. It took me back (way, way back) to the day I first saw the stars in a stationary store and wondered how easy it would be to use them in school.

Wouldn’t she have put the stars on AFTER she got the paper back? If the stars are supposed to be given by the teacher, why slap ’em on before she sees it?
