@Leo AutodidactIf Geo. Washington had had sons, chances are they would’ve believed what he did. He could’ve been king but he believed in trying to make the U.S. work as a democracy. King George III remarked that if Washington did hand over power that Washington truly was a great man. And maybe that’s why his likeness is on Mt. Rushmore.
My point was that Franklin WAS fertile, and knew it. A Bastard son of his was The Royal Govenor of New Jersey during the Revolution. Washington had no “Sons of his Body” (as the Phrase was) and he ALSO knew it. In those days it was customary to blame the Woman, especially in the case of an (obviously) Healthy and Virile Man like Washington.
Fortunately as Washington KNEW that “founding” a Dynasty wasn’t an option for himself he accumulated a group of Brilliant young Men about him to serve as “Foster Sons” (Lafayette, Hamilton, etc.) of his Mind and Heart.
Had he had Sons of his “own” he might have inclined to Monarchy when it was offered to him, who knows? But as it was a moot point in his own mind, it was easly declined.
Hmmmm, maybe I should quit reading the comments. I chuckled and laughed over this clever toon until the too-serious-and-political-for-their-own-good people ruined it for me. Sigh.

I gotta go with the REAL Father of out Country, Lusty old Ben Franklin!
(And be glad that George Washington had NO Sons, or we might be STILL be under a Line of Kings. Fortunately Martha was “Barren as a Brick.”)

George Washington had smallpox when he was young, which may have rendered him infertile. The same is true of Andrew Jackson.
