Oh dear. I was a library clerk in a jr. high school before I retired.

In my high school, wiseacres would just add on “it”!

And “spot on” belongs in detention.

Complaints about the original caused a word to be changed here.

Bah! The library in our town is constantly noisy, and the biggest noisemakers are the librarians themselves, none of whom seem to have ever heard the phrase “indoor voice.”

Brings back memories of my spending time in the school library and how the guys in my class used to make fun of the librarian. I felt sorry for her. She was such a genuine and helpful person. It seems that individually the guys were nice enough, but get them all together during our library class, and all hell would break…sometimes they were so nasty that she would send all of them to the office.

So what did the original say then?

When this strip was originally run, it was “what’s short an’ fat an’ sounds like an inner tube…” To be PC, she changed it to “short an’ round”. for 2014. But left the “short” in there? Fat is Fat.
