If it was very, very cold, he might be able to see their breath when they sighed, as well. I’ve seen ducks’ breath on the University of Iowa campus on just such a day.

My wife tried to catch a small gosling so the kids could pet it. The male remembered her for a couple of years and would attack and chase her away.

Schulz didn’t usually do “adorable.” But when he did, BOY…!

Hey! Didja hear about that weird VanPelt boy? Goes around patting birds on the head! I bet his sister is strange, too!

I positively love how Schulz drew the two birds with the backs of their little heads positioned one against the other while Linus is patting them. It as if they’re sharing happy brainwaves.

Ah, the beginning of a classic arc of strips!

Now these are the birds I remember being blue in the original Sunday strips.
