Charlie Brown is being awfully disloyal to his best friend here. Why would he side with Lucy on this?

Would YOU want Lucy to be on your bad side?

He does something no one else does, weirdo.

Charlie should have said, “No one else can do it.”

Chuck said the whole true of mankind in that last globe.

And Lucy doesn’t like anyone being happy – but especially not Linus.

I don’t think Charlie .brown is so much siding with Lucy as interpreting. Linus and Lucy are not really communicating, so they need CB to make sense of things for them.

You are waving your arms too much in the second panel, Linus.

I think that Snoopy does it.

Pat pat pat.

That’s a poor reason.

No one else thought up the theory of relativity until Einstein did it, or invented gravity when nobody else was looking like Isaac Newton did. Linus is ahead of his time, is all!

WRT CB: I don’t think he’s taking Lucy’s side. He is, however, trying to explain her point of view, because Linus doesn’t understand.

WRT the strip itself, I think Schulz may be commenting on the hippie movement which (I think) was in the news at the time.

While some of what the hippies did was dangerous and illegal (e.g. drugs, violent protests, etc.), much of what they did was harmless but unusual (e.g. painting cars crazy colors, clothes, music), and society strongly objected to the unusual along with (and sometimes more than) the illegal.

NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. IT SHOWS THE BIRDS TRUST HIM. BUT DO NOT TRUST HIS SISTER

Panel one is brilliant in conveying the distance between CB and Linus while at the same time fitting them both in a small panel.

I like to do my own thing too. I couldn’t give a stuff what anybody else says.xxx

My siblings made life difficult also Linus. I feel your pain

If I were Linus, I would simply say,“You have a problem with this? Well, don’t make your problem my problem”.Of course, I am not politically correct, so I say this quite a bit!: >)
