I quit my job, sold my cars, and stayed home to take care of my mom.She never spent one day in a “home”.She died in her own home.

Have had the 70s discussion. Decided since I love the Gulf Coast, am happy in this house, can afford someone to clean and help garaden, am still driving, have two sons who can make it here when needed—- decided to “age in place.” Happy, happy, happy.

My adoptive father died when I was a teenager. My adoptive mother is still kicking, but if anyone calls me because she can no longer take care of herself, I’ll tell them to throw her in the foulest nursing home either the state or Medicare will afford. What goes around, comes around.

The ex works in one and I can say that you neglected to add the kids who ‘work’ there for minimum wage and spend all their time avoiding work.

The Care of the Elderly use to be compassion; now it is a greedy business.

When you’re in your thirties, a new, hip joint is the latest place to be seen. When you’re in your fifties, a new hip joint is your latest operation.
