Every single day I get emails from aspiring writers asking my advice about how to become a writer... and here is the only advice I can give: Don't make stuff because you want to make money... it will never make enough money. Don't make stuff because you want to get famous, because you will never feel famous enough, Make gifts for people. And work hard on making those gifts in the hope that those people will notice. Maybe they will notice how hard you worked... ad maybe they won't. And if they don't notice... I know its frustrating. But ultimately, that doesn't change anything because your responsibility is not to the people you're making the gift for... but to the gift itself. -John Green

The Spruce Goose didn’t have as many rivets. If you’re making a gift to the gift itself, use less rivets. Your gift will thank you.

And here I thought the moral was going to be “Don’t spend so much time making things. Go after the girl, since that’s your dream.” Why would a girl feeding animals want a plane? This seems to contradict most other strips.

I worked on a multimedia show for the Hercules. Part of my job was research. Hughes used plywood made from seven different woods, none of which were spruce.
