The N.B.A. has a serious dilemma on their hands. The Lakers AND the Knicks are in the lottery which means the league has to, um, “choose”, which one of those teams gets the first overall pick. They can’t have 2 frozen envelopes, can they?

Hard to say who’ll have the, uhhh, “good luck” to get the frozen envelope this June, but there’s no real clear pick at number one anyway. As it is, even though I cover the NBA on radio, I haven’t watched a game on TV all season (and I used to eat, drink and sleep it). I prefer small college games because A) They’re affordable, B) The players give you an honest effort and C) They’ll be in class Monday morning because D) They really are in college to earn a degree in four years.

Since Time Warner locked up the Lakers games, no one in Los Angeles watches them.

Well, Tank could take a trip to Europe . . . or South America . . .or Mexico . . .or, frankly, anywhere other than Australia.

The promotion-relegation system penalizes a team for losing. If you’re 18th place in La Liga, or Serie A, or the EPL, you’d better get into 17th place in order to stay in the top division for next season.

Fun fact: None of the major leagues in Australia have promotion and relegation. The NRL, AFL, Big Bash League, and A-League are all franchise-based (like United States leagues), and the only promotion and relegation in Super 15 is in South Africa.
