What gets me is when FOLDED clothes get in the basket. I just put it back as clean. Sometimes it smells of the dirty but I refuse to rewash My kids learned to put dirty in the basket and sometimes put the clean away. My son is a lot better than my daughter still but now they do their own + they have their own families now.
“Think” it is. My Mom left the clean & folded laundry on the stairway….us kids (5) would walk by the piles a hundred times before bringing them to our room, unless something specific was needed in the pile….and then we’d go get that one item. At some point Mom would reach her breaking point and lay the law down and the piles would dissappear. She was a good Mom.
No it’s not a Canadian thing. I was born and raised in Michigan and if I had a dollar for every time my mother said “another think coming” I’d never have to worry about money again.
best way to cure this is make them do their own laundry, with supervision. The supervision is mostly so they don’t do the wash 1 pair of jeans, 1 shirt, 1 pair of underthings and 1 pair of socks. My son tried that and I wouldn’t let him wash anything until he put in a full load. Then I made him load the dryer, and hang or fold from the dryer and then followed him to his room to make sure they got put away……..my son is now 40 and he does the laundry for his entire family because he likes his clothes done a certain way. Picky Picky
My parents were so cheap, that I had very few clothes. If they got torn or stained, I looked sloppy. I learned to put the clothes away and to wear them before they went into the laundry at 8 or 9 years old.
Ya my kids did the same thing. Now they have kids of their own doing it to them. Cosmic Karma baby! Do unto your parent as you would have your kids do unto you!
I have to say that what this strip depicts is completely inappropriate. Grabbing a child by the collar, pointing and yelling in their face. If you did this to another adult it would be simple battery. What bothers me more is that only one other person on the board even batted an eye. And before you say anything I am a 51 year old father of three children, two in their 20’s and one in his teens. I know how frustrating it can get, but this is out of line.

Personally, I don’t mind chores. I know they help my mom out. Its not a big deal, Michael.

LOL! It takes a village and years and lots of patience. In the mean time, the laundry still has to get done. Sigh….

My son used to do that, so I made it his job to fold all the laundry for everyone. It remained his job from then on.

I see this kind of scene played out every week here at home. That’s the nice thing about comics- they can remind us we’re not alone.

Look at Ellie grabbing her son. That is child abuse. Call the authorities.
