Wrong – they could NOT, until Jan gave them permission when they asked. Now it is legal. However they may not even be from the Government of the Comic World. They may be spies from Mr G’s past.

I had a run in with the police 2 years ago. They asked to search my apartment for drugs and guns, neither of which I was involved in. I asked for a warrant. They put me in custody and one officer drove me around in fast circles in the parking lot, under the pretense of “cooling the engine”, while three others searched my apartment anyway, under the pretense of interviewing the neighbors. When I complained, the officer told me I could file a complaint after I was released from prison if I wanted to. They eventually did come back with warrants, seized all my computers (even my Wii of all things), and tore the place apart: ripped up all the carpeting and even cut holes in the drywall. The apt manager sent me a bill for $5,800 for repairs after I was released. In the end, they found nothing, and I was free to go: having been evicted from my apt, losing my job, spending 8 months in confinement, and doing nothing to get me re-established. There is a reason why anyone who has had to deal with law enforcement comes to hate cops.
