PP: I, for one think the Cleveland Indians is an embarrassing name for a professional baseball team!
GGL DO tell... have you very heard of the chicago cubs?
PP: Oh right.
GG: Exactly about an embarrassing professional baseball team.
As I Chicagolander, I am entitled to agree with Gunther completely. The Cubs are in the midst of their worst four-year stretch ever, haven’t been in the so-called World Series since 1945, and haven’t won it in well over a century.(Full Disclosure: I was a White Sox fan back when I cared about pro sports.)
Cubs management has no incentive to build a winning team. Win or lose, the fans keep coming to the games and buying the merchandise. Only when losing becomes unprofitable, will the management make the necessary changes.
While renovating a 100 year-old house I removed the wallpaper and found a newspaper from 1948 with the headline “Cubs won’t be in the World Series this year”. Little did they know!
Apparently, the biggest embarrassment in MLB these days is the LA Dodgers. Can’t get anyone to watch their games on TV because they insist on PPV or premium treatment; and no one wants to shell out those kinda bucks to watch the Dodgers on TV.
I did not appreciate this so called ’COMIC" today. Being from Chicago originally, I am a dedicated Cubs fan. No matter how good or bad they are doing, I will always support them. How many so called fans of other teams can say that? Cubs fans are the most dedicated fans from any sport! Your comment was so wrong, in so many ways and I am disappointed in your attempt at humor today. You owe those of us who love the Cubs an apology!
Cubs have a stacked farm system, and two guys who could start for any team now (Rizzo and Castro.) As a Braves fan, I am glad they will be a problem for the Brewers and Cardinals next year.

Cleveland’s won two World Series titles, both since the last time the Cubs won one (and one of them after the Cubbies won their last pennant).
