Andy: So have you kids done as I asked and come up with some goals and plans for the summer? Peter: We have, although it's more or less one big huge plan. Paige: Super huge. Peter: Consuming-every-minute-of-every-day huge. Andy: Good. I mean, I know I nag, but if I didn't, all you kids would do for three months is sit here and binge-watch the entirety of Netlfix. Peter: Um... Andy: Peter, please tell me that's not your "one big huge plan." Paige: Oh, shoot...we skipped the third season of "Cake Boss"! Peter: In my defense, it's Paige's plan. I was just too lazy to think of one.

Hmm, maybe I should… no, too many things I don’t like.

Andy’s kid should go with their friends to somewhere where Andy isn’t… and don’t come back till Summer Break is over!

Look, it’s not our fault that they release every single episode on one day! We’ve got come catching-up time!

Ah, it’s good to be grown up…now I can do whatever I want with my free time! No mom to nag me about it…

Summer plans? The only plans my daughters have is spending 3 days a week at a local girls’ club. The other 4 days are theirs to do as they wish, or whatever we can come up with as a family.

No way could you watch all of Netflix in three months. It’s not all good, but there is a LOT of it.

When our girls were younger, we would occasionally disconnect the TV, and encourage other activities; usually outside if the weather permitted. If it was cold, or nasty out, sometimes we would get out a board game and play as a family. Now, both daughters, and the older grandchildren*, seem to be tied to their iPhones every waking minute of the day. Ask them to please put it away, and be part of the conversation, and you’d think you were asking them to part with an arm or leg.*Fortunately, the two year old is an exception, at least for now!

Where did you go to school? If I may ask.

And typically, Andy completely misses the point of summer vacation. It’s the one time of year when the kids actually DON’T have to make goals and plans every day — they have to do that nine months out of the year as it is. Let them be kids for once, Andy!

It wouldn’t be like Paige to stay rooted to one spot long enough for Jason to hatch some delightfully twisted plot against her. Especially if it’s with Andy’s blessing.

And they don’t even have the advantage of becoming senile. I’m 70, so I figure that when I have finished binge watching West Wing, Breaking Bad, and all the other good stuff, I will have forgotten the ones I started with and can do it all over again.

“Cake Boss”!? Not missing anything. A poor excuse for “Ace of Cakes” and Charm City Cakes. I miss Duff; he had a good run.

Is it just me or does Andy look exceptionally fierce in the last panel?

How about you have them babysit from 7-6, Mon-Fri, Andy, like my mom is making me do.

wow no choice for me all my teen year summer vacations were spent working in my parents store. I considered myself lucky since I lived in a rural area and a lot of my friends worked on their parents farms. The store had A/C!!!
