    Actually, as Wiki explains – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanut_butter – the early Aztecs had a crude form of peanut butter going already. But the person to take out the patent was a Canadian pharmacist who created it as a foodstuff for people who couldn’t chew or process meat products, thereby (in those days) putting them at risk of not getting enough protein. []As far as Carver goes, Thomas E. Woods Jr.‘s "33 Questions About American History You’re Not Supposed To Ask" notes that there is a dispute as to just how many peanut formulas Carver came up with; there is reason to believe that Carver was attempting to promote the work of his fellows in addition to his own work, but that when his early promotional materials were copied and circulated his name was erroneously attached to all of the items on there.
