I’m not so sure of that… And, besides, Jesus wasn’t a Black African…he was Semitic, and that means he had medium-dark brown skin, darker brown eyes, and black straight (usually) hair… ;)
“The takeaway still seems to be: It’s all right to make fun of people of color if you are one”. I have no problem with that. I make fun of white culture all the time, and I’m Euro-American.
Only if the sunburn is on the back of your neck.In any case, that is correct, if you are a member of a group, your humor is understood as being self-deprecating.If you’re on the outside, particularly if you’re a member of what’s perceived to be the power structure, humor against the minority is seen as just nasty. So an insider can use his group’s pejorative and it is understood that “Hey, they call me that, too, so I mean it as satire.”
Good luck with that. Tribalism has been bred in us for millenia. I’m reminded of an Arabic saying,“My brother and myself against my cousin; my cousin and myself against the stranger.”This country is one big tribe against the world. Locally, we’re one tribe against all others.

Your takeaway is more of a throwaway.
