Don’t let yourself get dragged into commenting on this issue. The Republicans and the Far Right don’t care about the facts, they just want to attack.

So why don’t we talk about all of the attacks and comments the Far Right have made about Obama over the last year, such as that he “hates white people”, he is a Muslin, and the number of times you heard him referred to as “BlackObama” on Fox?

Ken, once again, the only people who ever quote Fox are democrats. Republicans work for a living, and don’t have time for television. I have never heard “BlackObama,” and I have never heard that he hates white people. I have heard that he is Muslim, but that is probably based on his childhood education in Muslim schools, and his father being a Muslim. I also know of people who went to Catholic Schools, and had Catholic fathers, but are certainly NOT Catholic. Some of them still proclaim to be Catholic, however, and I do not want to be present for their final judgement.

LOCO – If you haven’t watched Fox News you haven’t missed much, and you sure haven’t missed any real news.

You say that you never heard someone at Fox say “Obama hates white people” or heard him referred to as “BlackObama” (which is a play on his real name Barack) so now that you have heard about it – any comment? Is it racist?

Loco: that is probably based on his childhood education in Muslim schools

what?? from wiki: ”From ages six to ten, Obama attended local schools in Jakarta, including Besuki Public School and St. Francis of Assisi School.”

Obama’s father may have been Muslim, but his father abandoned his family when Obama was two years old so he didn’t grow up with Muslim teachings!

trust me… the words “obama hates white people” have been stated on Fox news way too many times to even count. Sometimes directly, sometimes with the typical Fox lead in of “some say”

He’s not Muslim. He was born in the U.S. He doesn’t hate white people.

perhaps there’s a Rx that could help you with your illness, eagles.

The problem isn’t that our country has a lot of idiots. We’ve always had a lot of idiots. The problem is that the Republicans are working to turn idiots into a voting bloc.

Eagles it is stupid to assume that all degenerates are democrats. It is stupid to assume that democrats are3 not & cannot be Christians. It is stupid to assume that a democrat doesn’t work or take care of his family. Pretty much all of your assumptions are stupid

As a Christian, democrat & a veteran I find your rants to be extremely offensive.

I hate to be called a racist, but believing in a more right of center politic, puts me in my left leaning friends gunsights. Have any of you read Obama’s book, ‘Dreams From My Father’? I find passages somewhat troubling, if not puzzling. Would I or should I consider him a racist? I think a fair answer is what exactly is a racist. Is it someone who vehemently espouses the superiority of their own ethnicity, or someone who is nuanced by his perception of the world. The perception that his country is very unfavorably regarded in the world; that by logical progression by HIS very own unfavorable impression.

eagles, you sound very familiar…like someone who disappeared from this list… Your stereotyping, besides being wrong wrong wrong (just to make that clear), is also not supported by the evidence. The Republicans in Congress average much higher in divorces – Newt Gingrich is a deadbeat dad, John McCain dumped his old wife after she had a car accident and quit looking like a blonde Barbie doll, etc., etc., etc. And – gotta love this – the divorce rate is higher in states that forbid gay marriage. http://tinyurl.com/ycczly5

Islam is the only ‘major religion’ that is fundamentally incongruous with democracy.

petergrt: not so. I would argue that any religion that specifies its own structure and the supremacy of its word over anyone else’s (and thus the collective judgment of nonbelievers) is incompatible (I assume that’s what you meant instead of incongruous. Or perhaps incongruent?) with democracy. To take a specific example: The Catholic Church (which I know well!) was and is suspicious of “modernism,” which includes many things but democratic secularism is clearly implied, as the will of the people would overrides that of the Church. As late as the 1930s there was open skepticism regarding democracies and republics.

Uh, do the words “Thou shalt have no other…” start a flood of pro-“democracy” hormones flowing?? Right, the same words apply to Judaism, Christianity, AND Islam.

^ In Catholicism, secular democracy is considered a “lesser evil”. It has only been so since Vatican 2, in 1964.

Senior, BCR, Ken, etc…. As I’ve said before, I voted for a black candidate for president in the Republican primaries in 2000 and 2004. He lost both elections to George W Bush. Apparently the consensus THEN was that America was NOT ready for a black president with no Negro dialect. I was.

Strange. If church and state arent supposed to mix, then catholics can’t be either democrat or republican.

Loco, you wrote “BCR” I think you meant me, BCS. B ut in any case, Obama did not attend a Muslim school.

And if you don’t see skin color when you vote, then good for you. Though I think Alan Keyes is mentally unstable. Good thing he hasn’t won any office.

Senor, no I did not see Eddie’s post. However your first post did make me wonder what century you were speaking of. As for 98% of blacks voting democrat, that was exclusively for Mr Obama, and demonstrates a most extreme example of racism in America. I couldn’t tell you how many of my African-American clients (I am a welfare caseworker) said yes when asked if they wanted to register to vote, a question we are required to ask at every interview. They said they were going to vote for “the black guy.” Many didn’t even know his name. They didn’t know his party. They just knew “it wasn’t a regular name” and that he was black. When I asked why they had not registered before, they said that if they did, they might be called for jury duty, and they would not do that.

BCR - thank you, I did mean you. I was sure that I heard that when Mr Obama lived in Asia that he attended a muslim gradeschool. Was I misinformed?

As far as seeing skin color , (or gender for that matter) when you vote, that should not have an impact on your vote. The brain and the heart count. The genetalia and pigmentation do not.

I think Alan Keyes was alright in 2000 and 2004, but I agree that he has gone off the deep end since. Very bitter.
