Unless there’s something on your face for real. (There was something on Snoopy’s face, was there, Woodstock?)

This isn’t Woodstock, yet. Just an anonymous generic bird. Woodstock joined the crew a bit later.

This seems so realistic as to a dog’s reaction.

I’d still take the bird as Woodstock. If I recall right, Snoopy “finally” found out the bird’s name—-implying Woodstock had been around awhile before that.

HA! I love that stern face on Snoopy in the last panel!

Yes, that appears to be Woodstock, although - as has been said - he didn’t get his name until after the ‘69 rock festival. I remember (I was 7 years old when this strip came out.) this particular bird was around a few years before he/she finally was given a name. The tufts at the top of the head are one clue that this one is the one that eventually became Woodstock. Most of Schulz’s earlier birds did not have the tufts or the same shape as these later birds did, and according to Schulz himself, Woodstock (nameless at first) was not introduced until (I think April?) 1967. And you’ll notice the copyright is marked as 1967.

Regardless of these details, I just love these Peanuts strips so much. What a smile they bring to so many faces!

Here we go with the ignorant Woodstock comments again. Please post your source that this is NOT Woodstock, otherwise it’s hearsay. Meanwhile, I’ll post my source that says Woodstock made his first appearance in March 17, 1966.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock_(Peanuts) (notice the sources listed.)This strip was drawn in 1967, so there’s every reason to believe that this is Woodstock before the name was given by the festival.
