Like I said before, J. Straightedge Trustworthy is no Fearless Fosdick.

But Nightmare the serial killer horse is still at large, free to kill again whenever he pleases. Angus was just his patsy and cover. Also used Sparkplug in his gang to play the old “good horse – bad horse” routine.

Haha! I wasn’t expecting Tracy to get funny in the last panel. It gave me a chuckle.

Can’t say I’m terribly pleased with the ending of this one. Felt like a deus ex machina that came out of nowhere, without much real detective work required. Angus just randomly decides to go to a radio station and take a hostage, then climbs the antenna like a pint-sized King Kong on a skyscraper so he can be conveniently picked off? Oh well.

I think what Tracy is mulling over is more like: “How do I run in the guy who just saved my skin?”

He climbed the tower because they needed a “fall guy”!

I guess Sunday wraps it up and the obligatory 1 week “interlude” begins before the next story.

What about Nightmare? Will he be put out to pasture or does he change his name to Alpo?

Possibly Tracy is implying his suspicion of Vera Alldid; not all the tangled threads of this caper have been unravelled as yet….

While I enjoyed the story, it feels incomplete. The bad guy betrayed himself (on the air!), and was done in by Montana Joe (an unexpected twist). It was like everything was one step ahead of Tracy.(Angus never had to even enter the station – he met Joe outside, and could have demanded the keys to Joe’s truck, knocked him out and been gone.) I’m sure there are limits imposed upon Mike for the amount of violence he can have in the stories, which is one problem that Gould never had.So there’s no Gouldian hail of bullets, or Nightmare stomping Angus in poetic justice.I wonder if there’ll be any revelation to wrap this story up tighter.

So it ends as it began – with J. Straightedge Trustworthy!.Seriously, Tracy trying to be funny?.There’s been talk of the “obligatory filler,” but methinks this story was the “filler”!.Also funny noting that others have been left scratching their heads over this story. Probably, Neil Wick said it best: Angus’ only real thought process was revenge. Perhaps it was Neil who said it, perhaps someone else, but Angus was the “man without a plan,” and it showed..In the meantime, Annie fans are chomping at the bit. As for me, I think I’ll retire for now..And wait for the next Moon Maid sighting!

Happy weekend guys! I’m looking forward to Annie! Do they plan to bring Vera Alldid back? I hope not!

Cheapskate, I’ll take your path. I chose Tracy all over Orphan Annie….. I wonder if the Penalty Box has a visitors section? I’ll go sit there and have an alumni reunion with SDM/Avenger09, & Mattie. Maybe the clock will come down on this next one, too.

“I hear that train a-comin’ – comin’ round the bend…….” ala the late Johnny Cash!

Your comment about Nightmare: “Such animals are usually destroyed. Not put out to pasture.”-——————Unless he escapes that fate to turn up in the next “Mr. Crime” story. (That’s for Morrow and Gweedo to mark the rare day when we all agree on something.)

Like swallows to Capistrano the magpies returnFor the glory days of Gould they do yearn“Where’s the violence, where’s the blood?”These new guys are such a dudTie the loose ends up in a pretty bowThat’s how it’s done, well, don’cha knowOh sure, these new guys can draw and they can writeBut the stories seem to lack the biteThe creator, now there was a manSomeone we could all fave and fanAnd though these newbies saved the stripThere’s something lacking, the maggot pies quipI want to see blood, I want to see goreWhen it occurs off panel it is such a bore"Because of rules, it does seem they are fatedThat their blood lust will never be satedI did not think that the fans here would stoopAnd become like those over at Alley OopSo remember this, all those who snarl and snarkThe shining light of Tracy could still go darkHere’s something that may come as a shockerThe syndicate may even start reruns of one Dick Locher.
