I’m afraid what Connie wanted Phil to do was definitely not gentlemanly!

When you get to that part of your life… you need something a little more, especially if it reminds you of what you once had.

howtheduck I agree Phil’s behavior is very gentlemanly.

I have been meaning to let you know how much I appreciate your efforts to keep us informed and also not give away what happens next in the previous storyline for those who wish to enjoy the story as it unfolds.

    Mr Doty

I apologize if my wording offended you (or anyone else). That was not my intention I personally feel people should be not be discriminated against for either their sexual preferences or their sexual orientation.

uh mrslukeskywalker don’t you know what a troll is, internetwise? (see comment from yesterday).

There’s been trolling here, I’ve flagged for it 2 or 3 times in the 6-7 years I’ve been reading this site. Talking about trolls isn’t namecalling.

Connie doesn’t want seem to want nice. Some women are drawn to the bad boys. That’s fine if you’re young and naive, I suppose.

    Good morning, LuvH8 :-)

Sorry Phil but it’s not right to dump everything on Elly. She agreed to care for Lawrence for a while so Connie could chase after you but when he broke his leg she should’ve gone back to him. It’s one thing to care for him when he’s healthy and another when he’s sick or has broken something, it’s much more work now. It’s time for her to go home now and assume her responsibility,.

To be fair, it’s still just hours since she got the Lawrence leg news in comic-time. But as a parent, I wouldn’t have gone to a club with news like that. Prolly she wouldn’t have either, were it not for a certain desperation which is more pathetic than amusing now.

howtheduck: Eliminating the cousin is Lynn’s updating of the strip. In 1981 it mght have been considered more appropriate for a single woman travelling alone to stay with a relative. That she is staying alone in a hotel is more accepted today, and yet more revealing of Connie’s character.

    Good morning, Everyone,

I too agree with LuvH8, half the fun of reading the comic strips is seeing what everyone has to say! It makes my day!

The colorist of today’s strip really didn’t do a very good job, did they? Connie’s jacket has been three different colors since she has shown up; two different colors in just this one strip!

Phil is being a gentleman. You can tell what he really means by that remark, because of Duckie’s link to the old strip. That shows the real intent, I think. It is a brush off. But a nice one. The guy is just not interested in her.

Connie needs a complete make-over. She looks like an older woman. And she’s quite young.

Yes, Phil is being a gentleman, which is pretty danged out of character for him. For Phil, being a gentleman IS a brush-off.

The brush-off isn’t the offer to drop Connie at her hotel. The brush-off is “Well, it’s been great seeing you,” clearly letting Connie know the visit with him is over. Nicely, gentlemanly, but definitely a brush-off.

Note to Connie: When you chase after Peter Pan, you usually get brushed out of the way as he flies off.

“Sexual preference is a choice; sexual orientation is not.”

Contrary to popular belief, they are one and the same, and that one thing is not a choice but neither is it set in stone. The latter term is just a misnomer for the first.

How did we get onto this subject anyway?

Thats a good question. Pibgorn has topics covering alot of subjects. One time it was gun control.

mrslukeskywalker, ok, I was just wondering - I haven’t seen a real troll around here for months, more than a year maybe, (though I HAVE suspected a certain childless expert in raising children). Quite a lot of obnoxious comments but of course that’s not necessarily trolling! And no, I wouldn’t dream of flagging them.

Hey Plus 4; Orientation IS set in stone. Just like “handedness” is set in stone. A left handed person can be forced to write with their right hand and may even be proficient in handwriting, but he/she will always be left-handed. And too much unnecessary struggle.
