When I was young we had probably one of the last remaining party line phones in the country. When you’re a kid, the term “party line” sounds awesome, until you realize what it means and in my case, it meant you could listen in on old people talk about their doctor appointments.

My grandparents had a party line. That’s pretty accurate. You could also eavesdrop about the state of their garden tomatoes.
