Starting in September, giving out new, disposable plastic bags will be banned in the county I live in…. most stores have already stopped, or will when they run out of their current supply.
The new law also requires a 10 cent charge for a paper bag, the intent being to “encourage” customers to bring their own reusable bags.
I too tend to forget those in my car…. I’ve found that its easier to carry a few recycled plastic bags stuffed into my purse.
I’ve saved enough of those to do that for a long time….Looks funny, though, when I carry out my groceries in bags from a different store.
I have a couple of reusable totes, but usually forget to return them to the car after taking the groceries into the house. I find it a bit ironic that the plastic bags started, in part, to reduce deforestation. Now it’s hard to find a street or road where you don’t see them blowing all over the place. Many stores now have a recycle bin for the customer to return the used bags, but as with the totes, it requires remembering to take the bags back to the car after storing the groceries. :-(
I almost always grab a cart from the parking lot as I go in, rather than getting one from inside. I try real hard to remember my canvas bags, too… doesn’t always happen.
thanks a lot zman111666! I hate when I log into the comics page to read my daily chosen comics AND spend and hour on another page link that someone like yourself posts!!! J/KI am now stuck today on your man Tim Minchin! LOL Thanks for the laughs this morning!!!! =D
I use cloth bags, which are stored in a clean bag before they are put back in the car. But I ask for the plastic ones for things like plants (dirty) and orange juice (wet) because plastic bags are useful, too.
I need the plastic bags to dispose of things that should be put into SOMETHING before I put them into my trash bag. I need the paper bags for shredded papers. I’d hate to have to buy them though.

What? That would be nice. It’s always the person who spends $9 on groceries that feels it’s okay to take them home in a $120 shopping cart.
