Y’know some of those old-time Marriage “Contracts” were pretty tough. Had to produce “X” many Children, penalty clauses if there weren’t any Boys, etc.
I was doing pre-marital counseling with a couple a few years ago. The guy told me they had waited to get married until he was financially secure so he could take care of his family. I didn’t say anything, because now they were getting married, so the point was moot, but my thought was, “And what would have happened to your three children and the woman you had them with if you had died without that insignificant piece of paper, while you were busy getting all financially stable?”
I doubt if a “piece of paper” was used when humans started getting married. Did they have courthouses with county clerks to obtain that “piece of paper”? It pretty much just meant the woman was now legally “property.” It is government intrusion into a couple committed to each other, nothing to do with God, or the Bible. Quit being so sanctimonius, it’s a COMIC.

Marriage is just “a piece of paper”? I think I’m done with this comic.

It’s a piece of paper that legally entitles her to half your stuff if it doesn’t work out.

I agree about the piece of paper thing.
