Okay, I know we’re supposed to be in the Annie story, but this is fascinating!

Hey I’m first to comment! So much for the Chick Tracy storyline! I was wondering where that was going?

And the new Moon Maid looks hotter! I wonder if Tracy will be able to help Daddy Warbucks find Annie?

The horns have become real? Woot! I love this development!

Mysta Chimera is evolving into a real Moon Maid. And I’m certain the Tracy will find Annie!

I’m hoping that with the development of these powers. Mysta doesn’t go over to the dark side!

Mysta’s well on her way to becoming a lunar woman. Yeah!I like the “what’s happening to me?” look on her face. You’re turning into Moon Maid, honey!

I read that Mike Curtis said we would be seeing Mysta soon, but I wasn’t expecting this. I am liking the idea of DNA evolution, as it creates many possibilities for future developments. The sky’s the limit with this character.

Wonderful! This is the very best kind of development. Always a pleasure to see Mysta.

Hot dog! I felt sure more changes were coming after we saw Mysta zap the dish in her apartment, but I’m glad it’s now official. The dramatic possibilities for this character just got a lot more complex and interesting. Plus it’s days like this that the improved coloring for the strip has become even more obvious. The colors are light years better and more consistent now than what we were seeing a year ago during the original Mysta story (green hair, blue horns, ack). Thank you, gocomics!

This is a fun development. Also, Moon Maid had the ability to paralyze people, and I believe that needs to be added to the list. I’m assuming here that “Freeze Ray” refers to her ability to turn water into ice since it’s listed just below “Heat Ray.”

I really welcome this news interlude – and any other for that matter since (dare I say it?) I’m not a fan of Little Orphan Annie. I’ll keep up with the story only because I like Dick Tracy, however I really don’t care if she if found or not, sorry. Sigh, it’s going to be a long summer for me.

Besides, maybe Annie is with Dr. Ghote and Sail somewhere being transformed with the DNA of Flattop or Pruneface. Hardly even a slim chance I know but hey, a guy can dream can’t he?

Mysta is evolving? Awesome. I’m glad what was hinted at is now confirmed. I hope she gains telepathic powers so she can get on the “horn” with Governor and his wife, haha.

Always happy to see Mysta, I am also glad she is evolving in the strip. It still always warms my heart to see a drawing of the Original Moon Maid! I am looking forward to the ANNIE crossover as well.

So, the blended DNA of Chimera is evolving her powers? Well, well. That’s not entirely unexpected, based on what we have already seen. Smith’s scientific staff has merely verified the facts. Mysta should not be so surprised, I’d think. I hope this has something to do with the search for Annie, which is of far more interest.

Mike and Joe must be fans of “The Fly”. Deep inside of Mindy there’s a little voice screaming, “HELP ME”! I can relate.

In comparison Mysta C is 10 times prettier than Mysta T as well.I herd that VF is going to have a romance interest. Is there any truth to that I wonder?If so that will be so cool, everyone needs that in their life. After 35 years I am still crazy about my sweetheart, and I still think that she’s a knockout, a wonderful wife, mother, cook, homemaker, farmer / gardener, has a supreme character (you know how do you act when you’re alone) and she takes real good of our dogs … and she still is the best kisser ever. Oh yeah, she still loves the ole guy too, and that’s something special.About 9 years ago I had a radio program and I referred to her as “green eyes” on the air. Every now & then some of my pals will ask, how’s “green eyes” doing?

I guess there will be no Moon Maid movie with the deaths of Kolossal and Angus huh? And I wonder will Vera continue to pursue her? Junior took his ex wife, Sparkle and he can take his ex wife, Moon Maid!

Mysta already rebuffed Vera’s unwanted advances. Zero chance for that dolt. As for The Moon Maid film, it is unlikely that Kolossal’s death would stop production. Too many contracts signed, sets built and scenes filmed. The deaths of Angus and Kolossal will change ownership of the studio, but even if their wills are contested there is little chance that production of a potentially profitable film will shut down, imo. While I assume filming will take place off-panel, I’d wager that the film will be completed and there may even be a few surprise guests at the premiere.

IF they had come up with a REASONABLE explanation of why/how the REAL DEAL moon maid got revived, i MIGHT have been behind it, but grafting lunar dna onto a human and now all of a sudden having the lunar dna alter is just too far fetched even for this strip and it’s history

This is very cool. I lost interest when we found out that Mysta wasn’t the real Moon Maid. But now that we’re learning that she’s turning into a moon woman, I’m more interested than ever! Moon Maid was my favorite as a kid and I love the idea of having a Moon Maid back in the story even if she’s different. I’m glad to see that other fans are happy with this, too.

Loving that we’re going to see more of Mysta! I’m wondering how, if at all, Mysta’s reappearance is going to tie into the upcoming Annie storyline. By the way, Annie’s apparently not in “Gasoline Alley” today.

One thing we don’t know yet: could the same changes happen to Honeymoon, who was born with lunar DNA?

Really like the two Mysta photos – Chet Gould’s version is notably different from Joe Staton’s (which I prefer).I’m glad to see this interlude confirming what so many of us have been thinking.-Could Mysta be involved in the search for Annie?Wow – Tracy and Mysta with Punjab and the Asp!

I know there are those who hate Mysta. But she always gets fans talking here!

We saw Daddy Warbucks rebuffed when he asked the police commissioner for Tracy’s help.I wonder if Tracy isn’t going to be ‘reactivated’ by the Naval Reserve, and assigned to help. After all, National Security, kidnapping the daughter of a major US industrialist, supplier to the Pentagon, blackmail potential, etc…

Yay, it’s Mysta! This is an awesome development.

I almost didn’t check Dick Tracy today. Am I glad I did!! This is fantastic news. We kind of knew something was happening with Mysta, but to get confirmation like this that she’s transforming or evolving or whatever is just great. This gives me much hope for the future of Mysta and the moon people. I’m hoping we’ll end up with a “virtual” Mysta, reborn through modern genetics and magical moon DNA. It won’t be the impossible outcome I was hoping for, the original Moon Maid back from the dead, but I will still be a very happy camper.

@tsull2121There is no reasonable way they could have revived Moon Maid, in my opinion. Even though the present scenario would involve a dramatic scientific breakthrough, it seems somewhat plausible to me, as much as any of the events of the moon era of the strip.

I agree with what you say. I have tried to ride along with the whole Mysta story line because so many fans seem to really like it, but this DNA mishmash is too much for me. And, anyway, when one considers the entire history of the Dick Tracy strip, the “Moon Period” is a very small part of it. Hopefully, Mike and Joe will keep the Mysta angle in proportion to the rest of the rich heritage that is in the strip.

I feel Chester Gould took a side road for a few years there in the mid 60s – I hope Mike and Joe will spend most of their time on the main highway! The above comment is @tsull2121; I cannot get the ordinary reply function to work, for some reason.

Was it ever explained why when we first met Mindy she was on a vigilante kick? Did I miss the reason or is just part of the long list of incomplete storylines?

Why do some Dick Tracy fans get so bitter about certain story events? It seems like the longer it goes on, the worse they get, and the more attention they seek. Meanwhile, Mysta’s still the greatest. A wonderful character in so many ways. Too bad they can’t appreciate her, but that’s their loss, not mine!
