He was hoping to get his nose lifted, but the guru thought his nose was in the right spot.

An aspiring composer once asked Mozart how to become a great composer.

Mozart replied that he should start small with unambitious pieces and slowly progress learning one little piece at a time.

The composer complained that Mozart was writing symphonies as a teenager; how could he offer such conservative advice?

Mozart replied that great composers don’t have to ask how to be great composers.

If you have to ask, you don’t know.

One does not find meaning in life by letting a religious leader of any stripe dictate that meaning. One finds it by making it oneself.
