yyyguy, sure non-whites were in those movies. They were the servants. (Certainly was true in “Holiday Inn” which is the movie that first featured the song, “White Christmas”).
I hope that the readers of this strip are smart enough to realize that most Evangelical Christians are not like Pat Robertson and do not adhere to his narrow beliefs. I stopped trusting him when he claimed that God told him not to run for President, and then he did anyway in 1988. The guy has been an embarrassment to Christians for decades.
i’ll second that rousing amen
some of my friends are Christians, and i’m at least nominally Christian, having been brought up a catholic.
i don’t subscribe to ANY of the stereotypes i’ve ever heard about any group of people - there are good and bad in every group - and i’m aware that a lot of evangelicals have a real problem with the versions of Christianity espoused by Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker, Jerry Falwell, et al.
Ooooh. Please don’t pick on Campus Crusade. We don’t beat people over the head with Bibles, we just try to live our witness on college campus. If other people decide to follow, all the better. But we’re not gonna burn down frat houses because of keggers.
Pab, I’m anti-idiot too. As my grandmother used to say:
I’m only prejudiced against those who choose to be hopelessly ignorant.
“Holiday Inn” - the B&W movie of which “White Christmas” was a remake, had a black maid/cook and her to little children. Of course. “White Christmas” also has Bing and Danny K lip-sync “:Sisters.”
@Coyoty: the thing about Robertson is he has a history of making some outrageously insane comments and inflamatory remarks. Seems to believe himself a personal spokesman for the “Risen Christ,” while ignoring most of the sayings of Jesus. In this capacity, he has become kind of a “straw man” for critics of religion, Evangelical Christianity, in particular.

Amos and Andy radio show “actors” never made it to television.

Amos and Andy were white. Matter of fact, I believe they were of a religious minority that has dominated radio, TV, and movies for a century.

The last few weeks I’ve poked my head in here on Saturday and given you a sneak peek of the following week’s story.
Well, I’m working on next week now. It sucks. Go read “Hogwashed” instead.
On a lighter note, you get a new, proper, Sunday page tomorrow at least.

Furienna, Robertson claimed that Haiti’s woes are due to Haitians making a pact with Satan in colonial times.
