When we cleaned out our dad’s house when he passed last July, we found he still had an 8-ball toy (he was 86). My brothers and I spent a fun 1//2 hour playing with it before we got back to work. I think it ended up going home to Maine with my younger brother - he’s got LOTS of grandkids.
From that old 1990s cartoon “Rocko’s Modern Life”, I remember the titular character’s grumpy neighbor Mr. Ed Bighead having at work a magic meatball to help him check “yes” or “no” on important paperwork. Ed got promoted so many times, he accidently broke the meatball and got demoted back to his original position.
cool eight ball fact:The 20 standard answers on a Magic 8-Ball are:
● As I see it, yes
● It is certain
● It is decidedly so
● Most likely
● Outlook good
● Signs point to yes
● Without a doubt
● Yes
● Yes - definitely
● You may rely on it
● Reply hazy, try again
● Ask again later
● Better not tell you now
● Cannot predict now
● Concentrate and ask again
● Don’t count on it
● My reply is no
● My sources say no
● Outlook not so good
● Very doubtful
10 of the possible answers are affirmative, 5 are negative , and 5 are maybe. Using the Coupon collector’s problem in probability theory, it can be shown that it takes an average of 72 questions of the Magic Eight Ball for all 20 of its answers to appear at least once.

I wonder if breaking a crystal ball is like breaking a mirror….seven years bad luck or, in Rodney’s case, seven more years in Id.

That’s rather like having a large abacus on your wall for when your computer crashes. (Which I happen to have, by the way.)

Look out, Rodney. You might want to leave in a hurry.

Rodney has always been behind the eight-ball, but now it’s literally the case.
Seven years bad luck or seven years in Id – same difference.
