Kyrgyzstan = kir-ji-stan phonetically. I was there in 2003 for a few weeks. Beautiful place, actually. The closest town is Bishkek (which is pronounced just like it’s spelled, for a wonder). It’s the capital of Kyrgyzstan. One more thing; the name of the airport that the base sits on is Manas, airport code FRU. I’m pretty sure that’s where the base name came from.
