A company cafeteria was notorious for serving left over food, sometimes for several days until it was either rotten or gone. The servers got a lot of hate and discontent thrown their way. They just worked there, too. But if you were friendly and courteous, one of the servers would just fill a plate of what was fit to eat that day and hand it to you.
Always be nice to the cook and the bartender. They can hurt you.
