Back in the 60’s, I was the official channel changer, fine tuner, and brightness adjuster for our TV. None of the other kids were allowed to touch the controls.
Two channels, and changing channels was a two part operation. It took two people, one to change the channel and provide tuning info as the other one went outside and rotated the antenna. If one person did it, it took at least three times as long, if you were lucky.

Climbing onto the roof to get a better signal kept a lot of people fit before cable service.

Back before cable a storm bent our antenna over. The reception was better with it bent so it stayed that way.
