Awkward BBQ occasion reason. Can’t it just be a regular get-together?

my family has a big BBQ celebration every summer to celebrate the summer birthdays…….we have approx. 15 of the 20 or so extended family that have summer birthdays. Just makes more sense to have one big party.

Right. Because adults who used to date are completely incapable of being at the same function together and behaving in a polite and friendly manner. It’s horrifyingly unreasonable to expect that.

Just leave that potato salad out in the sun a few extra minutes and you will have a BARBQ the neighborhood won’t forget, alright!

-Ah sweet revenge-Just out of curiousity, since I keep seeing this theme in so many of your posts, are there are human females you approve of at all, living or dead? (I would guess not…)

-Of course, it doesn’t matter that it was JOHN who said that the BBQ was a way of returning the favor that neighbors previously extended when they invited the couple to dinner. It’s just another way for Ellyhaters to slam her lack of gourmet cooking skills….

Why does there have to be an occasion?

“If Elly says “paying back” or John says, “paying back”, it doesn’t really matter.”

Except that Ellie’s expression in panel four clearly indicates that “paying back” was not her idea!
