I feel pretty sure that E.B. didn’t mean to be obnoxious; he just was, by chance. Of course, Monty is not the world champion jigsaw puzzle-solver (nor any other kind of champion)….

If you want a challenging programming assignment (and you can probably get a job a google if you complete it): from a picture of a jigsaw puzzle taken apart and pieces randomly scattered, put it back together in software.

Strange that this strip started out as “Robot Man”, Monty was introduced and the strip was called “Robot Man and Monty”, eventually having the robot written out and focusing on Monty (and renamed “Monty”), and now there’s a robot it in again….
