True story.Dear Abby many years ago posted a letter from an elderly couple who argued about this. She got THOUSANDS of vehement replies-one of the top ten letters of all time by number of responses.
Night-Gaunt49: None of those get mentioned significantly. Communist and Socialist, most of all, and usually by people who don’t understand what either really is, nor realize that they are traditional enemies. Libertarian gets the most mention, both referring to the party and to some ill-defined political philosophy – to the extent that the term is becoming meaningless. Social-Democrat is almost always some foreign party – British or German. And Green, when mentioned at all, concerns the “pillar” of environmental responsibility, and never the other three of grassroots democracy, economic justice, and nonviolence.
Top-wound used to be acceptable, but ever since they enlarged the size of the tube so they could make you think they hadn’t downsized the roll, on a wall-mounted dispenser the roll tends to kick up, pressing against the wall and causing one sheet to tear off. Under-wound, it kicks away from the wall, allows easy selection of the length needed for the job at hand. Logically, under-wound is the ONLY choice!

Never could understand why some people like under.

You use B if you have cats or young children. They can’t unroll it by clawing or slapping at it. Any other time A is the preferred method.

Those who don’t get it argue over this sort of thing. Those who do get it just, um, roll with it.

B is the option to go with if you have cats or kids! I’ve saved many a roll from my kitten this way because she can’t unroll and shred it

Call me a heretic, but my toilet roll is vertically mounted on a free standing pole. I live totally outside the law!

My cousin has 5 cats, she keeps her tp in a cupboard next to the toilet, thus ended the discussion!

There are 2 kinds of people in the world.1. Those people who divide people into 2 groups.2. Those people that don’t divide people into 2 groups.

And I thought my life was shallow and meaningless…..How do people immersed in this type of discussion work and pay their bills?

Actually, it depends on if you have a cat.

I don’t see the purpose in decorative sheet folding.

To Jake514 – My cat still figured out how to unroll the TP either way we put it. “B” type people need to be fined.
MermaidStitcher over 10 years ago
But if you have cats you roll under or the roll will be all over the bathroom and none on the roll.
AngelMarieSings over 10 years ago
The way the holders work at my house the space behind the roll requires under.

When you consider where it’s about to go, whether it’s in or out doesn’t matter that much.
