The Tribune has made another terrible choice. They get rid of Lio but hang on to comics like Broom Hilda, Dick Tracy, and Brenda Starr that I’m sure no one has read in 20 years
To the readers of the Trib I would say that your complaints will do no good here. As Wiley (Non Sequitur) would say, let your feelings be known to the Trib. They may reverse their decision if enough voices are heard there.
I think Lio’s hair was supposed to be temporarily WHITE in fear (although I agree with BC13 that I didn’t think he would be scared of anything, except maybe COOTIES……..) My paper is on a binge of cost-cutting, replacing good comics with cheap ones. Luckily I can always find good ones HERE.
BTW, if the Tribune actually cared about what we thought, they would have gotten rid of Dick Tracy years ago, or fired Dick Locher and replaced him with someone who cared about the strip.
The Tribune is dropping Get Fuzzy, too???
I agree on earlier post: I haven’t followed Brenda Starr and Dick Tracy for years. You can read the Sunday version and be completely caught up. Co-author of Brenda Starr is Mary Schmich, who is a Tribune columnist. Tracy was a “local” strip, too.
The Trib has become unreadable since Zell took it over - barely worth reading anymore. The Daily Herald has more news and local info. Too bad….

They looked like that to me, too. ;-)

Sundays’ Chicago Trib says they will soon say to our friend: “Good bye.” (Good Lio, bad Trib.)

Yuk! Seventh-grade boys! That gym door is like a portal into H. P. Lovecraft’s worst nightmares. Run, Lio, run while you can!
And yes, bad Chicago Tribune [I write as a Chicagolander, mightily upset by a newspaper I used to read.]!

That’s what it feels and looks like for sure!
Third vote for “bad Chicago Tribune”!

Geez - you’d think Lio would go right on in… it looks like his kind of place.
It does explain the grey hair though…

First panel is just a visual of how it smells (I say this as the father of a 7th grade boy). This looks like a job for Super Odor Eaters!

Not sure about the kids, but anyone of those could surely be mistaken for my 7th grade PE teacher, Mr. Joist!

The Tribune is a ghastly right-wing rag that has become even worse by axing “Lio” “Get Fuzzy” and “Sylvia.”

When Col. Mc Cormick ran the Tribune, it was extremely right wing. It had shifted more to the center when we left Chicago.

I always thought Lio was in elementary school, not middle school.

When I lived in Chicago up to 8 years ago, I liked the Tribune funnies (for me, better than Sun Times). Looks like they’re dropping their best ones.
