Where in the world does Andie get her recipes?

Maybe they’re sisters and they got it from the same mother themselves.

Hey, I’ll take the brown rice and the sesame yogurt, if no one else wants them. Even the lima bean extract doesn’t sound so bad.

Worst of all, she’s doing food prep with a cold! She’s going to make everyone sick.

I wonder why she thinks everyone likes what she’s serving. Sounds like they don’t.

FlyGuyP38, Calvin’s mom actually has good food. She just makes it sound disgusting to make her kid eat it.

I bought my one and only some cook books (what am I, Stupid?) and luckily she doesn’t open them much. “Honey, could you pick up some regurgitated mushrooms? I’m trying a new recipe.”

To 611kwel: It’s unlikely that having a cold and doing food preparation is going to make anybody sick. Even if the cook sneezes on the food, the virus particles are going to be killed by the acids produced in the stomach. Colds are transmitted when virus-laden water vapor is exhaled by someone who is sick, and is then inhaled by someone else; the virus enters the body through the mucous membranes of the nose and windpipe. The reason that winter is considered a cold and flu season is that people are more likely to be indoors and inhaling the same air that people with colds are exhaling. So if Andie is living in the same house as the others, the chance is excellent that they’ll catch her cold, even if she stayed out of the kitchen.

Billington: maybe he was implying her cold would result in their food poisoning.

Someone take away Andie’s license to cook. I agree that none of the things she’s using sound bad… on their own…. but surely there’s more appetizing ways to prepare healthy meals than to just mix a random selection of them into a pot of goo.

I am reminded of the Fox Trot Sunday comic where Jason takes some old servo motors from a RC toy and installs them on the stove burner valves. When Andy turns away from the stove momentarily to get another ingredient or when she turns away to look at her recipe, Jason remotely turns the burners up to full blast. When Andy turns back around to the stove, Jason puts the burners back on normal but now the “food” is destroyed. Andy can’t figure it out and calls to the boys in the next room, “I can’t believe that I burnt the tofu catfish pilaf! Would you be OK with it if I just ordered a pizza?” to which the Peter tells Jason, “Remote controlled stove. This could be BIG!”…

Why is it whenever I get to really liking a comic the guy writing it semi-retires and recycles everything until my eyes pop. They even carried Peanuts in our paper up (long after Charles left us for higher grounds, sigh) until about six months ago. Please note, this doesn’t stop me from wanting to sneak a Whopper to the dinner table at Andie’s house, it just makes me miss the things she would have cooked today.

FlyGuy, I think she got them from the aliens that landed in Calvin’s back yard today.
