Ok, I realize I’m being too realistic here, but….

She’s putting an angelfish in a 15 gallon tank? That tank is way too small for that poor fish. It may be OK for now since the angelfish is so small (and chances are it will die soon anyway because I doubt Paige really knows how to care for fish), but as the fish grows, it will need a 30 gallon tank to be happy. Otherwise, it is like keeping a kitten in a cat carrier all the time. it may fit, but that isn’t a good permanent home.

Sorry for the rant, but as an aquarium keeper, it bothers me to see people mistreat fish out of ignorance or because “they’re just fish.”

Like this kind of freaky meal would be unusual for Andie?

We had a fish tank when I was a younger man. I came home from work one day to find all of my fish floating on their sides. I asked my ex what happened to them. She replied that she changed the water and it felt too cold to her so she used water that was warm to her touch … we never again had a fish tank after that.

Of course, corfy, this is just artistic license (and/or cartoon physics and biology) - as you know. A larger tank would probably not fit the panel.

But that’s useful information to know, all the same!

corfy, you missed the point of Angelfish and guppies. If things go as they usually go, in a little bit of time there will be Angelfish only. Fat Angelfish.

This reminds me of the tank a college roommate had and how much fun it was to move it. He had a 100 gallon show tank for his single Red Tiger Oscar fish. This tank was about 5 feet long and even after hydrovacing out most of the water the tank still weighed approx. 100 pounds.

We had one party prank we liked to pull on people. We sometimes hand fed the fish so he was used to our hands. We would tell someone, usually drunk and gullible, “Did you know that you can pet a fish”? One of us then would proceed to put our hand into the tank. The trick was not to reach for the fish but to hold your hand still and the fish would swim around you hand, presumably looking for food. Usually the person would put his/her hand in and reach for the fish. A spooked 10” fish can splash a lot of water. This prank only worked once per victim.

Roger - PLEASE DO NOT TURN ON THE GAS!

I used to keep fish some years ago. too bad I hadn’t seen corfy’s comment back then…

I eventually got a thirty gallon (120 liter) tank, but even so, my experience with angelfish pretty much went as MAD magazine said sometime around 1970 - they would all turn into angels, except for one, who would then go on to become the tank bully… (see gopuppy’s comment…)

    They were beautiful, though…

MisngNOLA - sorry about your experience. Well-meaning incompetents (I certainly started out as one… and likely still am…) can wreak havoc…

Roger Fox should know by now that every dinner his wife Andy cooks is a surprise.

Like in the Tim Allen and Martin Short film Jungle to Jungle where Allen’s Amazonian son cooks over an open fire Short’s fishes from Short’s “house pond” (aquarium).
