    If you’ve ever seen migratory birds, you’ll note that they fly in an inverted “V” formation. Invariably, one leg of the V is longer than the other. Does anyone know why this is?

    Because there are more birds on that side.

    Actually, the reason is that it’s more aerodynamically efficient that way. It takes the effort-saving qualities of the V-formation and takes it one step further. (I have an exact explanation somewhere, but I’d have to get out my steam shovel to find it.)
