As a writer myself, I’d like to point out that expository passages like this should be avoided in favour of letting the reader discover relevant details in the course of the story.
On the other hand, some of us need some serious catching up in order to gain traction in this universe..I rather like this recap, or so I assume that’s what it is..I sometimes get a headache trying to figure out what the heck is going on in Endtown..This strip was heading that way fast until this refreshing break..It’s the comics; I shouldn’t have to research a master’s thesis in order to have half an idea what it’s about!
It’s also possible there’s a point to the exposition being where it is…like maybe there’s some major character who’s re-watching a documentary or something and that just hasn’t been established yet.
A back story like this might have ben better served as a prelude to the story since the beginng was a bit confusing, seemed broken and brittle, since so far the lead character has committed no crime other than what appears to be that of a corporate assignation.
So apparently the archaeological discovery was made on Earth, followed by nonhuman appearances, followed by alien businessmen rebooting Mars, followed by Earthian migration to Mars.
I am beginning to get an idea where this has been, and where it might be going. There are a few why’s and wherefor’s missing. But it seems to be an awful lot of side tracking, and since we don’t have a clue who anybody is, and what side they’re on……I’m kinda confused. Sorta like jumping in and playing a game when you haven’t read the rules. (done that!)
Another thought about this “expository”: He’s not telling us the way it was; rather, he’s telling us what these people from the future may have surmised, thinking that these videos were non-fiction, which we, the readers, know wasn’t true.
“Intergalactic” means between galaxies. That’s an unfeasibly huge distance.“Intragalactic” means within our galaxy. That’s also unfeasibly large, but only a billion times bigger than our solar system, not trillions.

I agree, this seems to be filler.

Not to mention, this expository has some of the best parody and satire that I’ve seen in a while.

I am wondering if there is a point anywhere in this strip.

It’s a strip designed for those of us who enjoy seeing bears drink alcohol.

The second guy in the immigration line looks like Cliff from Brewster Rockit.

Looking at these comments, for the first time, it’s easy to see there is no shortage of pretentious assholes to pick apart webcomics.
