She may be bald, but not fat, and no stogie.

Obama sent the bust of Winston Churchill back to Brittan as a protest over ancient imperialism. I hope we get it back in 2 years.

@ILuvLuThank you Thirdguy! I see more absolutely bizarre comments spouted by the far right, and when I fact check, they are always so far off base. Case in point:

“At the start of the Bush administration Prime Minister Blair lent President Bush a bust that matched the one in the White House, which was being worked on at the time and was later returned to the residence. The version lent by Prime Minister Blair was displayed by President Bush until the end of his Presidency. On January 20, 2009 — Inauguration Day — all of the art lent specifically for President Bush’s Oval Office was removed by the curator’s office, as is common practice at the end of every presidency. The original Churchill bust remained on display in the residence. The idea put forward by Charles Krauthammer and others that President Obama returned the Churchill bust or refused to display the bust because of antipathy towards the British is completely false and an urban legend that continues to circulate to this day.”

jko “I fact check,”You see there’s your problem with the Right, right there! They don’t like reality, so they never check those nasty, horrid reality-based fact things!!Anyway, to get away from all the silliness: I hope you liked my use of polyptoton above :-)

To quote (or possibly slightly misquote) Robert Heinlein’s Lazarus Long: “A mother’s delusions about her child’s beauty keeps her from drowning it at birth”. And before you dump on me, I also thought my daughter, grandson and great-granddaughter were ugly just after they were born.

I prefer to think of Winston Churchill as looking like a baby. A balding, wrinkled, very tough baby.

Remember the “baby” from the Bugs Bunny cartoon that was actually a bank robber! lol

My father said that “all babies look like Winston Churchill.” That must have been a “meme” 60 or so years ago.

Exactly. I’m no longer have patience for people who trot out that tired Winston Churchill cliche.

It isn’t true, necessary or kind.

“Delusions are often functional. A mother’s opinions about her children’s beauty, intelligence, goodness, et cetera ad nauseam, keep her from drowning them at birth.”

Duck, I’m not here to bash you. I will, however, challenge you when you put forward your opinions about Lynn’s life or the history of this strip as fact, and then “prove” it with comic strips and more opinion. If you take that as bashing, then so be it.

I like this strip, and I always have. I’ve been reading it since about 1987 and these older strips are new to me.

It’s true, all babies look like Winston Churchill! Some of us mothers are realistic enough to say so! At about 2 months they really get cute. ;-)

Why would you assume that someone saying a baby looks like Winston Churchill is saying her child is ugly? I’m kinda partial to Churchill, myself. Reminds me of an English bulldog. And who doesn’t love English bulldogs!!

Most babies are bald, have chubby cheeks and double chins, all characteristics of Winston Churchill. At least that was my meaning when I observed that my newborn son looked like Churchill.
