Teacher #2: "Black History for White Folks" by Henry Louis Gates Jr. ... Teacher #1: Did you know a black man invented peanut butter?

This doesn’t seem like a book that Skip “Let’s-edit-out-Ben-Affleck’s-slave-owning-ancestry-because-he’s-a-famous-movie-star” Gates would write.

That’s the point – it shouldn’t. The country was founded on human trafficking and institutionalized misery, it’t not a secret … but Ben found it neccessary to try and get that part edited out of his feature on PBS. As the poster above noted, it didn’t work. And now Ben realizes what a doofus move it was. There is much chagrin.
