The Boondocks by Aaron McGruder for June 07, 2021
Transcript:
Huey: Riley, we're not in Chicago anymore. These people are well-off...comfortable. These are not the hard streets of the south side. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? Riley: I think so. I"m the hardest, baddest thing for miles, and I can run amok here without fear. Huey: No, let me try this again.

Well, this first strip is well entrenched in comic book history. Not so much the last, which presumably was the one yesterday, but which I didn’t even realise was the last. At the time, I thought Aaron just took a break while working on the cartoon, but the cartoon is long finished, and even longer since Aaron was involved with it.

A while back he did a couple new strips which were good, but ultimately just got my hopes up.

This is OK for me, to familiarize myself with the characters. I think when these first ran, The Cleveland Plain Dealer ran them on a trial basis, and didn’t find enough interest.

Riley is still under the delusion that He is “Bad” anywhere in the world.
