Oh boy. My parents taught me to say “May I say who’s calling.” first. One time I answered the phone as directed, and a woman asked to speak to “Maggie”. No one in the house by that name, so I indicated she had the wrong number. She replied she did not have the wrong number, and please get my mother on the phone. She refused to tell me her name, but said "I forgot, you call her “Marguerite” now. Just please give her the phone, and again refused to tell me who she was. Finally, she said “Tell her it’s Frank’s wife.” And that is how, at age 14, I learned my mom had a brother. Oh boy.

Remember those prehistoric days when we were so backward the only bad calls we got were wrong numbers? Or kids pranking?
